Great ideas for adding more kitchen storage and clever use of toe kick drawers. All manufacturers standard toe kick is 4″ in height. Toe kick drawers in a standard 4″ base will allow for items that are 2 1/2″ in height or less to be stored. If you wish to store pet bowls or larger items then you need to ask for a higher toe kick.
Viewing HDTV in your Bathroom
Watching HDTV from the comfort of your own bathroom is one of the latest electronic upgrades for bathroom remodeling.
Mirror HDTV’s may be mounted above the vanity, bathtub or in your shower wall with many waterproof, tempered mirror glass television options available in clean contemporary frameless styles or with traditional and modern picture frames to coordinate with your décor. The mirrors house an HDTV with ultra-bright LED screens that are fog free and when turned off create a complete mirror. Accessories include waterproof remote control, built-in speakers or remote speakers for enhanced sound.
With the optional Android App you can browse the internet, watch movies, check Facebook, Twitter, email, play games, read eBooks, watch live internet TV, Radio, Movies, YouTube and chat with your friends from your bathtub or shower! Would you actually chat with your friends from your bathtub?
Installation above a bath tub or next to a vanity is not difficult provided the wall is not tiled, with the same principle of housing a medicine cabinet in a wall pocket. Simplest install if you are not remodeling is to buy a fully housed version that you attach directly to the wall with a mounting plate. The tricky part is the power and cable wiring that comes out from the bottom of the housing and will need to be configured with your audio-visual/cable/internet house connections and if you use remote speakers the wiring must extend from the main HDTV unit to the speaker locations. Not difficult for trained electricians and wiring specialists but probably a bit more than the typical DIY task.
Bathroom HDTV framed screen sizes are 18.5”, 22” and 32” screens, measured diagonally, with the overall framed size similar in dimensions to a computer monitor.
Vanity mirrors, or MirrorVue can be as large as you need with rectangular mirror sizes ranging from 27.5, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100 and 125” widths and various height options to fit your bathroom. You then select the TV screen size 15.6, 22, 32, 40, 46, 50 or 60” which is centered on the lower portion of the mirror. Some smaller models are just under $ 1,000.00, with many medium size screen models available under $ 2,500.00 and very large mirror screens go up in pricing significantly. Round and square shapes are available in 40” and 50” diameter or square. The 40” round runs $ 1,830.00 with a 15.6” TV screen and you add $250.00 to increase the screen size to a 22”. Integrated lighting options can create just the right light for putting on makeup and create a clean, contemporary design.

Kitchen design for 2014 highlights White Kitchen cabinets as the top finish with many homeowners. One of our favorite kitchens showcases contemporary white wood kitchen cabinets without the antique glazed finish that retail cabinet manufacturers promote for an additional surcharge. Wood cabinet doors expand and contract creating a separation at the mitered or box cut corners and cabinet manufacturers only offer a glazed finish for white wood cabinetry knowing that the corners will create a gap and unsightly condition – this is the reason glazing became so popular, the added glazed finish detail hides the corner conditions that will in time become apparent however the design is hardly contemporary or modern. This is the reason why most cabinet manufacturers offer white cabinetry as Thermofoil construction only. Thermofoil is MDF construction with a melamine paper cover and while a cheaper alternative feels inferior to wood cabinetry and is apparent in the feel and look.
In this Kitchen Alder Wood Door panels were ordered to size and our local contractor built and finished all wood cabinets to our specifications, creating a timeless white wood cabinet.
Classic white kitchen cabinets custom designed and built by local cabinet-maker optimize every inch of space with custom cutlery inserts, base drawers, tray storage, spice rack, appliance garage and toe kick drawers. Center island finished with an industrial spray paint by ScrubbMaster in a soft teal gray color is maintenance free. The color is also used as accents for the light rail and appliques to continue the design theme throughout the space.
Accent shelves add drama with glare free lighting and break up the look of all cabinet walls. Double height wall cabinets add the illusion of a taller than standard 8′-0″ ceiling height for this 1980’s home remodel. Coastal colors and Greek revival crown molding add a Mediterranean flair for a classic timeless Kitchen design.
We just added a new Designer Album on our ASID profile – remodeling an older 1980’s home with a Great Room addition and enlarged contemporary Kitchen with Green Kitchen Cabinet construction.
Transformed in just under 1 month’s time – Blue and White Powder Room with custom marble vanity, floor tiles, beadboard wainscoting, crown molding, glass tile backsplash, new wall sconces and mirror. Elegant Blue Glass Vessel Sink started the design scheme. Marble floor tile pattern is detailed with satin nickel 2″ x 2″ accent tiles adding more character for this small room – the flooring pattern helps make the space feel bigger.
We were fortunate to have House Smarts Michael Ayala interview us and our client for an upcoming episode of House Smarts airing on NBC this weekend, May 11th and 12th.
Small Kitchen Remodeling, Centreville, VA – maximizing storage space and finishes that create an old world Tuscan Charm. The slate floor was installed years earlier with a home remodel and the Kitchen was fully redesigned recently. Kohler’s smart divide sink is one of the client’s favorite features with graceful curves making clean up a breeze.
Kraftmaid distressed maple cabinets, granite coutners and stainless steel Jenn Air appliances – a greenhouse window was added above the sink to allow for more daylight into the small kitchen space. Adding a new window above the sink with great design adds positive energy to your daily life where you stand many times during your day.
The refrigerator was moved over from the entrance and allowed a landing counter at the entry to the room which opened up the space dramatically. A tall pantry storage cabinet was banked with a counter depth refrigerator creating much needed storage.
Beautiful collection of new trends, color palettes, finishes and materials. Love the sink base with grille doors below the farm house sink. The farm house sink is a trend that revolves around one large sink so that you can wash large pans easily. Unfortunately washing larger pans is infrequent in comparison to the amount of times you need to use the sink for a small task. We do not recommend one large basin anymore given the amount of effort to clean and the waste of water and energy to perform the cleaning regularly every time you want to just rinse a dish. Kohler’s smart divide offers the best of both worlds. One smaller sink one medium sink with the divider panel low in the sink so that if you need access to the full sink for a large pan you may use it. Small task can easily be cleaned up in one of the two moderate sides of the sink without wasting valuable resources (water and energy to heat the water).
